Forum Title: Casement windows bang in wind when open
Hello-- Our casement windows have a lot of play in them--when they're open, and if the wind is strong, they flump back and forth a bit as the wind changes direction. This is more prevalent when they're open a little instead of a lot. Anyway, I'd appreciate suggestions on how to stop or reduce this movement. BTW, those old casement lock thingies are not an option. Thanks.

Hi, Things to check Does the door open and close easy? Any marks or gouges o the door caused by a nail or screw used to hang pictures or hardware on the wall? Is there clearence under the door? are the wheels all on the track? Is the hardware still secure to the top of the door? Most newer doors come with top rails made of press wood and the hardware will come loose. Is the track straight and secure? Good Luck Woodbutcher

What he said. How much play in the mechanisms, window brand, hardware brand if not window brand. The most availbe hardware is from 'Truth' hardware. They make a lot of OEM as well as replacement hardware.
